No, it is not recommended to install a thick or double layer of underlayment with laminate flooring. Underlayment is manufactured and meant to be used as only a single layer to allow your floor to be balanced and float properly.
Can I put underlay on top of underlay?
Adding new underlay on top of the old underlay will impact the performance of the new underlay and can be harmful to your new flooring. Old underlay can also be deceiving and look in good condition, and it can be tempting to keep in place, but often this will be an area with no footfall.
