Does Pergo Gold need underlayment?
It can improve the performance of floors with and without an attached pad. In fact, it’s the only underlayment that’s been approved for use with Lowe’s floors with an attached pad. Underlayment is vital to ensure the performance of your laminate floor.
Does Pergo Gold need tape?
Ensure that all foam seams without the overlapping lip tape are sealed with underlayment seam tape (sold separately). It is not necessary to tape the outer perimeter of the room’s underlayment. After underlayment installation is complete, install your flooring according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
Which way up does foil underlay go?
The underlay should be laid foil side down (essential to ensure maximum resistance to moisture from the subfloor) allowing a 5cm excess of underlay to run up the perimeter wall. Each roll of underlay should be closely butted-up.

How much underlay do I need for laminate flooring?
We would recommend an underlay of 3 – 5mm for laminate flooring. It should be at least 3mm thick to provide comfort and ground levelling properties. But, it should be no more than 5mm thick. If it’s any thicker, you could experience problems with the laminate’s locking system.
